St Anne’s Church Shandon Annual Parish Carols by Candlelight With Choral Con Fusion Corks LGBTS Inclusive Choir Thursday December 17th 7:30pm All Welcome ‘Who ever you are and where ever you are on your journey in faith, you are welcome in this place' It's that time of year again in Shandon where we celebrate the life and spirit of Mother Jones. This years festival again brings highly accomplished speakers from all over the world and music very day and night by home grown talent.
The fundraising concert this year is the much anticipated Play entitled, "Can't scare me...The Story of Mother Jones" by Kaiulani Lee, US actress with over 35 years experience in theatre, t.v. and film. Not to be missed. The Festival starts 29th July and ends with a garden party on Mother Jones Day, 1st August. Church of St. Anne (Shandon Bells) – Friday 1st May 6:05am Admission: Free of charge* Shandon Bells will once again host a dawn chorus this May Day, welcoming the first day of summer in our Shandon Sunrise event. At 06.05am, sunrise on Friday 1st May, the dawn will be met with a chorus of voices singing from the bell tower of the iconic Church of St. Anne, Shandon and followed by an ecumenical service. This unique performance has become a much loved annual event and marks the ancient celebration of the first day of summer. Those interested in attending are advised to arrive at 5.50am. *Please note that due to space constraints, public will not be admitted to the bell tower itself. However, the performance will be enjoyed on the steps of the church as the sun rises as well as in the church for the service that follows. The unusual thing about Friedemann is that he plays sacred, classical and rock and roll music, at times all at once. The programme is beautiful, witty and quirky at the same time.

St. Anne's Church/ Shandon Bells 1pm Saturday 26th July The Spirit of Mother Jones Festival takes place in Shandon from Tues 29th July to Friday 1st of August (Mother Jones Day) Lots of interesting lectures all week at the Firkin Crane, including Solicitor Gareth Pierce - 'Defending the Underdog', and the Mother Jones 2014 lecture by Prof James Green of the University of Massachusetts. There are lunchtime concerts, music workshops and music nightly at the Maldron Hotel. All events are free of charge with the exception of the Si Kahn and Anne Feeney Fundraiser Concert (€15) to ensure this festival can remain open to people free of charge. The Concert takes place on Thursday night at 8.15pm with two of Americas finest folk singers. Please Support this local festival.
