Shandon Bells will once again host a dawn chorus this May Day, welcoming the first day of summer in our Shandon Sunrise event.
At 06.05am, sunrise on Friday 1st May, the dawn will be met with a chorus of voices singing from the bell tower of the iconic Church of St. Anne, Shandon and followed by an ecumenical service. This unique performance has become a much loved annual event and marks the ancient celebration of the first day of summer. Those interested in attending are advised to arrive at 5.50am.
*Please note that due to space constraints, public will not be admitted to the bell tower itself. However, the performance will be enjoyed on the steps of the church as the sun rises as well as in the church for the service that follows.

FRIEDEMANN STIHLER Is an accomplished Classical Organist, (with a rock and roll twist), Friedemann has a wonderful repertoire and is a really nice guy too! The unusual thing about Friedemann is that he plays sacred, classical and rock and roll music, at times all at once. The programme is beautiful, witty and quirky at the same time.
We look forward to having him at St. Anne's (Shandon Bells) on Saturday 26th July At 1.00pm. This is a free concert though Donations are welcome on the door.

Mike Spencer Bown has been travelling non-stop for 23years around the world, we were delighted that on the last leg of his journey he decided to stop by and ring the Bells of Shandon last week.
Mike has lead an extroardinary life and I'm sure we'll hear a lot more as he is due to write a book and a film is to be made about his travels. Thanks Mike for dropping by.

Cork Hosts Culture night on the 20th of September, and on that night between 7pm and 8.30pm, there is free access to the tower and a chance to ring the bells and view the city as the sun goes down.
Our very entertaining tour guide Cliff will give a talk during the night about the church and tower. We also have church organist Victor to play some familiar tunes while you wait to visit the tower.
Members of the congregation will be on hand, and are love to share the history of their church, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Also opened in the Area, is the Butter Museum, the Firkin Crane the Guesthouse (artist in residence), Cork Butter Exchange Brass and Reed Band, so make sure to check them out. For more info on Culture Night visit http://culturenightcork.ie/
