​Cork Chamber Choir, under the baton of Tom Crowley, perform at St Anne's, Shandon on Sat 26th November at 6PM. Programme includes works by Mendelssohn, Victoria, Part, Lauridsen, Early and McGlynn. Admission €10 (€7 conc.)

Culture NIght is here again! Friday 16th September 2016. We will be opening our doors free of charge between the hours of 7pm-8:30pm where you can visit to ring the bells and see the evening view of the city from the viewing balcony. It's first come first served and as it's always busy, remember you will have to queue. But we will have our organist Victor Sullivan on hand to entertain you while you wait. We will be on hand to answer any questions you have about the church and tower. Looking forward to seeing you here!

Cork Heritage Open Day is a unique event, which is held on the first Saturday of Cork Heritage Week.  Organised by Cork City Council, Cork Heritage Open Day is taking place on Saturday, August 20th and will see over 42 buildings open their doors to the public for one day only.  A series of guided walking tours, heritage events, exhibitions, talks and children's events will also take place.  All events are free.

Here at Shandon Bells & Tower we have free entry from 10am-3pm.  It's a really busy day so expect to have to queue for a few minutes. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

Cork Heritage Open Day is organized by Cork City Council as part of Heritage Week in partnership with the Heritage Council and with media sponsorship from Cork's 96FM and the Evening Echo.‌

St. Anne's is delighted to host a Choral Event as part of the Shandon Street Festival 2016. Over the course of the afternoon, come and listen to the wonderful sounds of some of the cities finest choirs and choral groups. Groups taking part are- Niche:Sing Your Heart Out Group,  High Hopes Choir Cork, Voices of Cork, Cork Sacred Harp Singers and Choral Con Fusion. In between listening to the wonderful music, head outside and experience the fun of the festival, now in it's 10th year. Food stalls, face painters, dancers, bands-there's something for everyone. Exciting event as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival.

Beats, Bells and Bridges-Tom Lane and Alex Petcu
​Percussionist Alex Petcu and composer Tom Lane have come together to transform three sites in Cork into musical instruments. These locations (UCC Quadrangle, Mardyke Bridge and Shandon Bells) will host newly-composed, site-specific pieces for percussion that take advantage of the unique acoustics of each place.

Each of the three pieces has been created especially for the place in which it is to be performed. Beats at the quadrangle in UCC will explore the echoes and reverberation of the university’s historic quadrangle,Bridges will use the Mardyke Bridge itself as a percussion instrument andBells will feature a duet between Alex at ground level and the unique bells of St Anne’s Church bell tower played by Brian O’Regan.

Shandon Bells will once again host a dawn chorus this May Day, with Cork Chamber Choir welcoming the first day of summer in our Shandon Sunrise event.
At 06.05am sunrise on Sunday 1st May, the dawn will be met with a chorus of voices singing from the bell tower of the iconic Church of St. Anne, Shandon and followed by an ecumenical service. This unique performance has become a much loved annual event and marks the ancient celebration of the first day of summer. Those interested in attending are advised to arrive at 5.50am.
* Please note that due to space constraints, the public will not be admitted to the bell tower itself. However, the performance will be enjoyed on the steps of the church as the sun rises as well as in the church for the service that follows.

Shandon, has become a regular feature of the Cork International Choral Festival.

The College of Clerks Choral in Youghal is an ancient institution, founded in 1464 by Thomas FitzGerald, Earl of Desmond. The College originally consisted of eight fellows and eight singing clerks – a choral foundation which was dissolved and reinstated a number of times over the centuries. The present choir represents the latest revival (2005) of the Clerks Choral directed by the much accomplished Ian Sexton.
Although the Clerks Choral remains informally associated with the magnificent Collegiate Church in Youghal, the group is most active in venues throughout Munster at Divine Service (of all denominations), weddings and concerts. The Clerks Choral regularly features on RTE Radio 1 and Lyric FM. They have also performed in England and their rendition of Compline in St. Anne’s Church,
​Compline is the last church service of the day; it is a contemplative office, with an emphasis on spiritual peace. All Welcome.
